SDS Launches First Ever Urology Scanning Service for Patients
In an exciting and important development for primary care patients in Birmingham, South Doc Services (SDS) recently launched their first ever urology scanning service at River Brook Medical Centre in Stirchley.
The service is designed to give patients quicker access to the health support they need, and at a local level. This means that patients don’t need to go to hospitals for their urology scans, which is more convenient for them and also reduces the pressure on hospital services at a critical time for the NHS.
Once the patient has had their scan in this local service, a consultant urologist will then examine the results and decide what action to take next if required. By speeding up the patient journey in this way, the service will help ensure patients are diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible.
Mani Dhesi, Transformation Director at SDS, said:
‘We are delighted that SDS have had the opportunity to launch our first ever urology scanning service to ensure patients receive more local and rapid scans that aid faster diagnosis for the support we are providing in our key urology service. We will continue to work with our fantastic urology clinical team and wider stakeholders to explore how we can do even more to help meet current and future patient needs.’
Dr Chauhan from River Brook Medical Centre fed back that the initial patients using the service had told him that it was a fantastic local service, that they were treated with dignity and respect, and that they valued the faster access it provided. They said they would definitely recommend the service to other people.
Urology is a field of medicine that focuses both on urinary tract, and the male genital organs. Common urological problems include urinary incontinence, stress incontinence, and urinary tract infections (known as UTIs).
